NBA: Competing in Global Delivery With Akamai OS Streaming

Porter’s competitive forces model is very simple and gives picture of the company, their competitors and environment.  It also gives five competitive forces that will shape the future of the company.  Those forces are competitors, new market entrants, substitute products and service, customers, and suppliers. In the video, we can see that NBA’s use of services provided by Akamai company, clearly connects NBA with new customers on a global scale, offering them video content on demand.  NBA was able to attract and keep new customers in partnership with Akamai.   Akamai offers services of web sites and application, live on demand services and content distribution.  It is delivered in a timely manner all around the world and without disruption.  Akamai is able to offer service since they have 25,000 servers around the world and are always developing next generation of tools. “At Akamai, we're fiercely committed to helping our customers engage audiences of any size with superior-quality live and on-demand video, and solve the challenges of multi-device consumption (View from the top, 2013).”NBA, together with Akamai, formed a global marketing partnership.  It is achieved by listening of their global audiences and basing their content of service on that.  It is real intelligence on demand.
